Smartex ® VT

Smartex®VT (vapor-tracker)

Provides long-term monitoring and early warning when the moisture level in the roofing envelope increases to unacceptable levels.

This can be caused by:
  • Leakage in the roofing membrane
  • Water vapor penetrating the vapor barrier and condensing in the roofing envelope
  • Leaks from improperly flashed roof penetrations, adjacent walls or parapets

How Smartex VT ® Works

When the roofing envelope is functioning properly, the vapor pressure on the inside of the envelope equals the vapor pressure on the outside.

By comparing these values, one can deduce the moisture content and the dry condition of the envelope.

When a significant difference in vapor pressure is measured over time, it means that there is a problem with the roofing envelope.

The roofing envelope will ultimately become saturated, damaging both the envelope and possibly the building structure.

Here's an example from the headquarter of PROGEO in Großbeeren.

The green section shows no anomalies, but the red roof section displays an accumulation of water in the roof package.

Sm a r t e x® VT Features

Monitors the roof constantly by a permanently installed automatic data acquisition system.
  • Can access data any time via the internet (optional)
  • Integrates easily into almost any type of existing roofing system
  • Warns of rising moisture levels and immediately signals these conditions by email or SMS
  • Constantly inspects the moisture resisting function of the waterproofing envelope.
  • Creates a yearly status report for building management
  • NOTE: Installing more measuring points in the roof envelope will more accurately locate the area in which envelope moisture is rising, and where leakage might be occurring.
